Josh Saunders, known online as King Cobra JFS, dies at 34 in Casper

CASPER, Wyo. — Josh Saunders, better known online as King Cobra JFS, has passed away at the age of 34.

Josh’s father, Clint Saunders, shared the sad news on Friday. He said he found Josh in his apartment and that doctors believe he may have died in his sleep from organ failure.

Josh grew up in Casper and became known worldwide through his YouTube channel, where he had over 117,000 subscribers and made more than 5,000 videos. He shared almost every part of his life online — from playing guitar and cooking strange food and drink mixes, to making wooden wands and walking sticks for his fans. He also often spoke about his struggles and dealt with criticism from internet “trolls.”

Clint explained that Josh had a hard life, facing bullying, depression, and alcohol problems. But he also said his son was kind, caring, and full of respect for life — so much so that he even asked his family not to harm insects.

Despite the hate Josh received, he also found a lot of love and support through his online fans.

“You made him feel like a person,” Clint said. “I can never thank you enough for encouraging him and for all the gifts you sent.”

After his passing, many fans and people in Casper shared their memories.

Michael Sanford, a local resident, said he had been watching Josh for over 10 years. “He was always himself, through good times and bad. I admired that about him. The internet and Casper lost someone very real and genuine.”

Another fan, Jeff Cater, agreed. At first, people may have watched Josh because he seemed unusual, but over time they grew to respect him.

“People stayed because he was funny, honest, and just interesting,” Cater said. “How many people call themselves warlocks and stream their lives every day? That takes strength, especially when facing so much hate.”

Cater added that Josh meant a lot to the “outsiders” in Casper, a town usually known for rodeos and oil work.

“It hurts because we grew up in the same place,” Cater said. “We saw the same things, heard the same trains, and even lived through the same wildfires. Watching him felt personal.”

He especially loved seeing Josh’s videos during the holidays. “He was always cheerful in his own way, and his energy made others feel good too,” Cater said.
