4 Upcoming Henry Cavill Movies Fans Should Be Excited About

Henry Cavill has been keeping a relatively low profile lately, especially after his fun cameo as “Cavillrine” in Deadpool & Wolverine. While fans quickly began campaigning for him to play Wolverine full-time, that dream is unlikely to become reality. If anything, Cavill stands a better chance of becoming the next James Bond than leading the X-Men in the MCU.

Even though he is no longer Superman and has stepped away from The Witcher, Cavill’s career is far from quiet. The actor has several major projects lined up—most of them large-scale productions that showcase his strengths as an action star. Awards bait? Maybe not. But blockbuster entertainment? Absolutely.

Here are the four confirmed Henry Cavill movies currently on the way.

4 Upcoming Henry Cavill Movies Fans Should Be Excited About

4. In the Grey

Henry Cavill reunites with director Guy Ritchie for the action thriller In the Grey, starring alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Eiza González. The story follows two extraction specialists on a dangerous mission to rescue a kidnapped negotiator. This marks Cavill and Ritchie’s third collaboration after The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare—two fan-favorite titles in Ritchie’s filmography.

Cavill and Jason Statham are often regarded as the actors who best understand Ritchie’s style, so fans welcomed Cavill's casting. While some might have expected Statham in a traditional Ritchie action film, Cavill has proven many times that he can deliver intense, physical performances. With Gyllenhaal adding his usual versatility, the cast looks solid.

The film’s journey to release, however, has been rocky. Originally set for January 17, 2025, it was pulled from Lionsgate’s schedule due to unfinished post-production. In late 2025, Lionsgate relinquished distribution rights to Black Bear Pictures, making a 2026 release the most likely scenario.

3. Voltron

Produced by Amazon MGM Studios, Voltron is the live-action adaptation of the beloved 1980s animated series Voltron: Defender of the Universe. The film stars Henry Cavill, Sterling K. Brown, and Rita Ora, telling the story of pilots who command mechanical Robot Lions that merge to form the mighty hero, Voltron.

Director Rawson Marshall Thurber has promised a version that honors the spirit of the original series while reintroducing the legend to a new generation. Fans can expect strong teamwork themes, high-stakes action, and a refreshing alternative to more formulaic robot franchises.

Production officially wrapped on May 24, 2025, and there have been no signs of delays or reshoots. Whether the film heads to theaters or premieres on Prime Video remains unknown. Given its heavy visual effects, a theatrical release would make sense, but Thurber is familiar with both streaming and cinema, leaving either option open.

2. Enola Holmes 3

Netflix has confirmed that Enola Holmes 3 is in development, with Millie Bobby Brown returning as the brilliant young detective and Henry Cavill reprising his role as Sherlock Holmes. The cast also includes Himesh Patel, Louis Partridge, Helena Bonham Carter, and Sharon Duncan-Brewster.

While the second film departed from the Nancy Springer novels and instead drew inspiration from the real-life 1888 matchgirls’ strike, the creative decision paid off. Enola Holmes 2 scored 93% on Rotten Tomatoes and became the number-one title in 93 countries.

The third installment will feature a shift in tone. Philip Barantini, known for Netflix’s acclaimed crime thriller Adolescence, is replacing Harry Bradbeer as director. Deadline reports that Barantini pitched the film as the franchise’s version of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban—suggesting a darker, more mature direction. Meanwhile, Bradbeer is busy working on Spider-Noir, set to debut in early 2026.

1. Highlander

One of Henry Cavill’s most anticipated projects is the upcoming reboot of Highlander, directed by Chad Stahelski of John Wick fame. Cavill will play the immortal warrior Connor MacLeod, who is forced back into battle when the ruthless Kurgan resurfaces, supported by a secret organization hunting for eternal life.

The cast is stacked, featuring Dave Bautista, Russell Crowe, and Djimon Hounsou—actors who excel in epic, mythic action worlds. Cavill’s résumé makes him a natural fit for historical and fantasy-driven characters, from The Tudors to The Witcher.

The project has been in development for years. After shifting from Lionsgate/Summit to Amazon MGM in 2025, the reboot is now positioned for a much larger scale, with potential spin-offs planned for Prime Video. Considering the original film’s mixed reception but long-lasting cult status, this new version has an opportunity to deliver the definitive Highlander experience.
