Greyhound Sequel Filming Begins with Tom Hanks Returning

Filming has officially started on the highly anticipated sequel to Tom HanksWorld War II hit, Greyhound. The new movie, tentatively titled Greyhound 2, is currently shooting in Australia, bringing back Hanks alongside Stephen Graham and Elisabeth Shue. New faces are also joining the cast, including Jack Patten from Robin Hood.

Greyhound first premiered on Apple TV in 2020 and quickly became one of the platform’s most popular films. Hanks played first-time captain Krause, tasked with guiding a convoy of 37 ships across the dangerous Atlantic, protecting supplies and soldiers from Nazi U-boats. The intense action and gripping storyline made the film a streaming hit, often appearing in Apple TV’s Top 10 movies.

The success of Greyhound naturally led to plans for a sequel, officially announced in 2022. Now, after a few years of development, filming has begun in early 2026. The sequel will follow Krause and his crew “from the beaches of Normandy to the Pacific Ocean” as they continue their mission in the fight against World War II threats. Tom Hanks has once again written the script, with Aaron Schneider returning as director. While no official release date has been shared, the movie is expected to hit screens in 2027.

Greyhound Sequel Filming Begins with Tom Hanks Returning

Unlike the first Greyhound, which released exclusively on Apple TV due to the pandemic, there are no restrictions this time preventing a theater release. Hanks had expressed disappointment that the original film couldn’t be seen on the big screen, calling it “an absolute heartbreak.” Whether Apple will give Greyhound 2 a theatrical release before streaming remains unclear, but many fans hope it will finally appear in cinemas.

With Tom Hanks back in action and a story expanding across new battlefields, Greyhound 2 is shaping up to be an exciting follow-up for fans of historical war dramas.
