The Night Agent: 4 Key Things to Remember Before Season 3
Netflix’s hit action thriller The Night Agent is returning with Season 3 on February 19, 2026, and all 10 episodes will be released at once. The new season continues directly after the dramatic events of Season 2, placing Peter Sutherland in an even more dangerous position than before.
Before you start binge-watching, here are four major story points from Season 2 you should remember to fully understand what’s coming next.
1. Peter and Rose Break Up for Good
One of the biggest emotional moments of Season 2 is when Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) and Rose Larkin (Luciane Buchanan) accept that they cannot be together.
Peter realizes that loving Rose puts her life at constant risk. Enemies can use her to control him, and that danger keeps growing as his work becomes more serious. Even though they still care deeply for each other, they decide to separate for Rose’s safety.
This decision sets up Rose’s exit from the series, as Luciane Buchanan will not return for Season 3. Their relationship doesn’t end because of a lack of love—it ends because survival comes first.
2. Peter Becomes Trapped by an Intelligence Broker
During a mission in Bangkok, Peter crosses paths with Jacob Monroe, a powerful and wealthy intelligence broker who trades secrets for influence. Jacob is connected to the dangerous Foxglove chemical weapons program and believes Peter may know too much.
To save Rose from terrorists, Peter makes a desperate deal. Jacob agrees to help—but only if Peter steals a classified file from the UN Secretary-General’s office. Against orders, Peter does it.
After getting what he wants, Jacob reveals the truth: Peter now belongs to him. He gives Peter a phone and demands that Peter answer whenever he calls and follow his instructions. This moment traps Peter in a web far more dangerous than before.
3. Peter Is Arrested — Then Forced to Work as a Double Agent
Once the crisis is over and Rose is safe, Peter is arrested for stealing classified files and helping a criminal. He accepts the consequences, believing he did the right thing.
However, Catherine Weaver steps in. Though often frustrated by Peter’s reckless choices, she respects his intentions. Instead of letting him go to prison, she offers him a deal.
Peter is released under one condition: he must become a double agent. When Jacob calls, Peter must answer—but secretly report everything to Night Action. Peter agrees, officially returning as a Night Agent, while waiting for the call from the most dangerous man he has ever faced.
4. A Presidential Election Is Secretly Rigged
The stolen UN file turns out to be world-changing. Jacob gives the information to Richard Hagan, the Governor of Kansas and a presidential candidate.
The file proves that Hagan’s opponent, Patrick Knox, secretly supplied a chemical weapon to a terrorist while serving as CIA director. Once the truth is leaked, Patrick is forced to drop out of the race.
With no real competition left, Richard Hagan is almost guaranteed to become the next U.S. president. But there’s a price. Jacob now owns him and expects access to powerful intelligence once Hagan is in office.
By the end of Season 2, Jacob has influence over both Peter Sutherland and the future President of the United States.
