Akshay Kumar Starts Shooting for Alien Thriller Samuk in London

Akshay Kumar has started filming his upcoming alien survival thriller Samuk in London. The film brings the actor back together with producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah for their seventh project together.

Directed by Kanishk Varma, Samuk is being planned as a large-scale Pan-India theatrical film with an international production setup. According to industry sources, Akshay began shooting on August 23, 2026.

Most of Samuk to Be Shot in the UK

The makers are reportedly planning to shoot around 90% of Samuk in London, with the remaining scenes expected to be filmed in Mumbai. The production is planned as one long schedule instead of several separate shooting phases.

The film has reportedly been in development for more than two years. It combines action, survival horror, military elements and alien mythology, giving Akshay a different kind of role.

International Team Behind the Alien Creature

One of the major highlights of Samuk is its international technical team. Oscar-nominated creature designer Alec Gillis has been brought on board to design the film's main alien creature.

Gillis is known for his work on major creature-based films, including Alien and Predator. His involvement adds an international touch to the film's visual effects and creature design.

British action director Luke Tumber is handling the action sequences. The production is also focusing heavily on practical filmmaking, with the makers aiming to create many of the creature and action scenes in real environments.

Vipul Shah and Akshay Kumar Reunite

Samuk marks the seventh collaboration between Akshay Kumar and Vipul Amrutlal Shah. The two have previously worked together on several successful projects and are now exploring the science-fiction and survival thriller space.

Vipul Shah had earlier revealed that the film would be shot extensively overseas and was targeting a 2027 release. He also explained that the project is being developed with global cinema standards in mind, especially as Indian audiences now have easy access to international films and shows through streaming platforms.

Akshay is also said to have been closely involved in the development of Samuk, taking part in discussions about different aspects of the project.

With filming now underway in London, Akshay Kumar's Samuk is shaping up to be one of his biggest upcoming theatrical films. The combination of alien mythology, survival action, practical creature work and an international crew makes the project one to watch ahead of its planned 2027 release.
