Kartik Aaryan and Sandeep Modi Reunite for New Dharma Thriller

Dharma Productions is once again working with Kartik Aaryan and director Sandeep Modi on a new action thriller. After their earlier period action project was shelved, the team has now found a different story that is expected to begin filming in early 2027.

Kartik Aaryan’s New Action Thriller

The new film is being described as a high-concept action thriller with elements of romance and suspense. The makers are keeping the story details secret for now, but the project is expected to show Kartik Aaryan in a completely different role.

According to reports, Karan Johar, Sandeep Modi and Kartik Aaryan have been discussing several ideas since their earlier project could not move forward. They have now agreed on a story that could give Kartik a more commercial action image while also taking him into new territory as an actor.

Sandeep Modi is currently working on the final version of the script. Pre-production is expected to begin by the end of 2026, with filming planned for the beginning of 2027.

Kartik Aaryan’s Third Dharma Film

The upcoming action thriller will be Kartik Aaryan’s third project with Dharma Productions. His previous collaboration was the romantic comedy Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri.

He is also set to appear in the fantasy comedy Naagzilla, which is scheduled to arrive in theatres around Valentine's Day next year.

For Sandeep Modi, the project will be an important step into the Hindi theatrical space. He made his directorial debut with the 2019 Marathi film Chumbak, starring Swanand Kirkire.

Why Their Earlier Film Was Shelved

Kartik Aaryan and Sandeep Modi were previously attached to a period action drama backed by Dharma Productions. The film was announced in 2023 and was expected to begin production in 2024.

However, the project eventually stopped during development. One major issue was the makers' difficulty in securing the life rights connected to the real-life personality behind Kartik's character.

The film's rising production budget also became a concern, making it difficult for the studio to move ahead with the planned version of the movie.

Instead of returning to that project, Dharma Productions, Kartik and Modi have now chosen a completely new story.

Kartik Aaryan Has a Busy Lineup

The new Dharma thriller adds another major title to Kartik Aaryan’s upcoming movies. The actor already has several projects lined up.

He has completed work on Naagzilla, while Anurag Basu’s musical romance and Kabir Khan’s sports drama are currently in production.

Kartik is also expected to start work on Shimit Amin’s Captain India in September. Because of his existing commitments, the Sandeep Modi action thriller is likely to begin only after he completes his current projects.

With filming planned for early 2027, the new Dharma Productions movie could become one of Kartik Aaryan’s most interesting upcoming projects, especially with the actor taking on a new action-oriented role.
