Ramayana’s 15-Minute Unseen Footage Leaves Exhibitors Stunned: “VFX at Par With The Lord of the Rings”

The anticipation surrounding Ramayana has reached a new level after exhibitors at Big Cine Expo 2026 in Chennai were treated to an exclusive 15-minute presentation featuring never-before-seen footage from the much-awaited epic.

The special preview was showcased on August 18, the first day of the two-day exhibition expo. Since the footage has not been released publicly, attendees were strictly prohibited from using their mobile phones or recording any part of the presentation.

According to an exhibitor who attended the preview, the footage featured several visuals that have not previously been revealed, including some of the film’s intriguing creatures. One of the major highlights was a one-eyed daitya, while a bear-like creature also received considerable attention.

Ramayana VFX Impresses Exhibitors

The exhibitor was particularly impressed by the film’s vision and visual effects, describing Ramayana as a global Indian film with effects comparable to those seen in large-scale Hollywood productions such as The Lord of the Rings.

The reaction comes after the film’s trailer had already generated excitement among exhibitors. The exclusive footage reportedly strengthened that anticipation even further, giving those present a closer look at the scale and imagination behind the upcoming period epic.

The presentation was not simply a collection of movie scenes. According to the exhibitor, the 15-minute asset also had the feel of a making-of video, offering some insight into the process and ambition behind the project.

Namit Malhotra’s Vision Featured in the Presentation

Producer Namit Malhotra also featured in the presentation through quotes discussing his ambitious endeavour with Ramayana. His comments were incorporated between portions of the footage, adding a behind-the-scenes element to the exclusive showcase.

The presentation eventually concluded with the Ramayana trailer, which has been available to the public since July 30.

For exhibitors who had already been excited by the trailer, getting an extended look at previously unseen material appears to have made the film even more intriguing.

Ranbir Kapoor and Yash Lead Ramayana

Ramayana features an ensemble cast led by Ranbir Kapoor and Yash. The film also stars Sunny Deol, Sai Pallavi, Ravie Dubey, Rakul Preet Singh and Lara Dutta, among others.

The period epic is planned as a two-part cinematic saga. The first part is scheduled to release on Diwali 2026, while the sequel is set to arrive in cinemas on Diwali 2027.

With the trailer already out and exhibitors now having witnessed footage that remains unseen by the general public, curiosity around Ramayana continues to build.

The biggest question now is what these ambitious creatures and visual effects will look like when audiences finally experience the film on the big screen.
