World War Z Sequel Is Finally Happening With Brad Pitt and Edward Berger

After more than a decade of delays, World War Z is finally moving back toward the big screen. Brad Pitt is officially returning as Gerry Lane for a new sequel, with All Quiet on the Western Front and Conclave director Edward Berger set to direct.

Paramount Pictures is moving forward with the long-awaited follow-up to the 2013 zombie blockbuster, giving the franchise a major new creative direction. Dennis Kelly is writing the screenplay, while Pitt will also produce alongside Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner through Plan B Entertainment.

The screenplay is being written by British playwright and screenwriter Dennis Kelly.

Kelly is known for projects including Utopia and Matilda the Musical. His involvement marks another significant change from earlier versions of the sequel that were developed over the years.
