Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 Release Date Revealed: Michael C. Hall Returns as Dexter Morgan

The Dark Passenger is back.

After bringing Dexter Morgan back from the dead, Dexter: Resurrection is officially returning for Season 2, with Michael C. Hall once again stepping into the role that made Dexter one of television's most recognizable antiheroes. The new season is set to premiere October 30, 2026, exclusively on Paramount+.

The announcement gives fans another chapter in Dexter Morgan's complicated story, following the events of the first season and continuing the larger Dexter television universe.

Michael C. Hall Is Back as Dexter Morgan

Michael C. Hall remains at the center of Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 as Dexter Morgan.

Hall has played Dexter throughout the original Dexter series, Dexter: New Blood, and now Dexter: Resurrection. In the latest series, Dexter's story continues after the events of New Blood, with the character moving to New York City and reconnecting with his son, Harrison.

For longtime viewers, Hall's return is one of the biggest reasons the series continues to feel connected to the original franchise.

When Does Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 Premiere?

The wait now has an official end date.

Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 premieres Friday, October 30, 2026, on Paramount+. The second season will be available through the Paramount+ Premium plan.

The release also arrives during a major moment for the franchise. October 1, 2026 marks the 20th anniversary of the original Dexter series, which premiered on Showtime on October 1, 2006.

That makes the return of Resurrection particularly notable for fans who have followed Dexter Morgan's journey for two decades.

What Is Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 About?

Details about the new season are being kept relatively mysterious, but Paramount+ has revealed the central setup.

Season 2 finds Dexter caught between two killers. One is described as notorious, while another is terrorizing New York in unexpected ways. At the same time, Dexter faces what the official synopsis calls his greatest enemy yet: a midlife crisis.

Meanwhile, Harrison continues his own pursuit of justice, setting up another complicated chapter for the father-and-son relationship.

The premise suggests that Dexter will once again have to balance his secret life, his relationship with Harrison, and the dangerous killers surrounding him.

Uma Thurman Returns for Season 2

Uma Thurman is also returning as Charley.

Thurman joined the Dexter universe during Season 1 of Resurrection, and her character will continue into the second season.

Jack Alcott is also back as Harrison Morgan, while other returning cast members include Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Kadia Sarif, Dominic Fumusa, Desmond Harrington and James Remar.

New Killers Are Entering Dexter's World

Season 2 is expanding its cast with several major additions.

Brian Cox joins the series as The New York Ripper, while Dan Stevens plays The Five Borough Killer. The latter is described as a killer who taunts police with threats against innocent people before carrying them out.

The season will also feature Gabriel Luna as Ray Ballard, also known as the Sleepy-Eyed Stranger, and Krysten Ritter will reprise her Season 1 role as Mia, also known as Lady Vengeance.

With Dexter surrounded by multiple dangerous figures, Season 2 appears set to introduce another complicated group of characters into his world.

Season 2 Production Is Already Complete

The second season isn't merely planned anymore. Production began earlier in 2026.

Michael C. Hall announced in April that production on Season 2 was underway, describing the upcoming installment as another "thrill ride" and teasing both returning and new guest stars.

Paramount+ has since released an official teaser and confirmed the October 30 premiere date.

Where Can You Watch Dexter: Resurrection Season 2?

Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 will stream exclusively on Paramount+ when it premieres on October 30, 2026. Season 1's 10 episodes are also currently available on the service.

For viewers looking to revisit Dexter's entire journey, Paramount+ currently carries the wider Dexter television universe, including the original series, Dexter: New Blood, Dexter: Original Sin, and Dexter: Resurrection, subject to the applicable subscription plan.

Why Dexter's Story Is Continuing

Twenty years after the original series premiered, Dexter Morgan remains at the center of an expanding television franchise.

The original Dexter ran for eight seasons between 2006 and 2013. The story later continued with Dexter: New Blood, followed by the prequel Dexter: Original Sin and the current sequel series Dexter: Resurrection.

Now, Season 2 is pushing the story forward again with Michael C. Hall back in the role.

With new killers, returning characters and Harrison's continuing journey, Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 has plenty of unanswered questions waiting to be explored.
