Tom Cruise, A Film Shot In The Ocean Trenches Is Coming? Discover The Sci-Fi Deeper

Tom Cruise is known for his relentless pursuit of thrilling and groundbreaking projects, and it seems he’s at it again. According to recent rumors, Cruise is in talks to star in Deeper, a supernatural thriller directed by his frequent collaborator Doug Liman, under Warner Bros. This marks another exciting chapter in their partnership following their work on Edge of Tomorrow and Barry Seal.

As reported by renowned scooper Daniel Richtman, Deeper is a project that has been in development since 2016, written by Max Landis. The film has attracted various top-tier actors and directors over the years, including Idris Elba, Bradley Cooper, Gal Gadot, and directors Kornel Mundruczo and Baltasar Kormakur, who were attached in 2016 and 2019 respectively.

Deeper is described as a supernatural thriller centered on a disgraced astronaut, to be portrayed by Cruise, who embarks on a mission to explore a newly discovered deep-sea trench. During this expedition, he encounters a sinister and dangerous force lurking in the depths. The film has been likened to a blend of Gravity and The Martian, promising a gripping and suspenseful experience.

This project will be the third collaboration between Cruise and Liman, who are also set to work together on the highly anticipated Edge of Tomorrow 2 and a much-discussed space movie, which Liman will direct. Given Cruise’s penchant for performing his own stunts, it wouldn’t be surprising if Deeper involves real deep-sea filming, possibly serving as a ‘warm-up’ for their upcoming space venture.
