Uma Thurman Returns as “The Bride” After 21 Years in New ‘Kill Bill’ Short Film

Fans of Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill saga are in for a major surprise this month. Uma Thurman is officially stepping back into her legendary role as “The Bride” for a brand-new animated short, titled The Lost Chapter: Yuki’s Revenge, premiering inside Fortnite on November 30 at 2 p.m. ET.

Created in collaboration with Epic Games, the short is designed to celebrate the long-awaited theatrical release of Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair, the combined cut of Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 that Tarantino always intended to be viewed as a single film. To make the reunion even more exciting, Thurman not only reprises her voice acting but also performed motion capture for the project.

A Lost Chapter Finally Comes to Life

Die-hard Tarantino fans may recognize the story of the new short. The plot is inspired by earlier drafts of the original Kill Bill script that never made it into the final films.

The events take place right after The Bride defeats the Crazy 88, O-Ren Ishii, and Gogo Yubari. In this untold chapter, Gogo’s sister, Yuki, travels to the United States seeking revenge—setting up a showdown fans have been wanting to see for decades.

For those who don’t play Fortnite, the short will also screen in select theaters before The Whole Bloody Affair hits cinemas nationwide on December 5.

What Exactly Is “The Whole Bloody Affair”?

While many count Once Upon a Time in Hollywood as Tarantino’s tenth and supposedly final film, the director has long insisted that Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 are one movie split in half for release purposes.

The complete cut, The Whole Bloody Affair, first premiered at Cannes in 2006, with efforts to finalize the version continuing ever since. It has played on rare occasions—most notably at the New Beverly Cinema in Los Angeles, owned by Tarantino himself.

With its official theatrical rollout in December, fans will finally get the chance to watch the ultimate version the filmmaker always envisioned.

Tarantino explains:

“I wrote and directed it as one movie — and I’m so glad fans can finally experience it that way. The best way to watch Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair is in a theater, in glorious 70mm or 35mm. Blood, guts, and action on the biggest screen possible.”

Will There Ever Be a ‘Kill Bill Vol. 3’?

Speculation about a third film has been circulating for years—especially after Maya Hawke, Uma Thurman’s daughter, became a rising Hollywood star. Many fans hoped she would take on the role of Beatrix Kiddo’s daughter in a next-generation sequel.

However, Tarantino has repeatedly stated he doesn’t plan to expand the saga any further, emphasizing that The Bride’s journey reached its natural ending with Bill’s death.
